Painting with a water based paint is recommended after 12 months, other wise the wood fades into an ugly grey !
Please be aware that cracks will appear in the poles in dry summer conditions but will disappear in wet wintry conditions and will not affect the integrity of the wood . There is absolutely no need to be concerned !
